The Commons cafe and laundromat is a place where community happens. Sitting on the corner of four distinct neighborhoods, its clientele reflects members of each of those communities and beyond. Neighbors are connecting who otherwise wouldn't have known each other, learning each other's stories and sharing both joys and struggles.
Recently there was a young woman who moved into a nearby neighborhood and was connecting many of the newer residents and working to form a block club without realizing there was a long standing block club in her community made up of neighbors who had been meeting for years. By coming to The Commons and sharing what she was up to, she was able to get connected to the existing block club and begin forming new relationships with her neighbors.
