From the Executive Director's Desk

Dear Family,

As the seasons change, it is incumbent that we take a moment to reflect on all of the beauty we have experienced since the beginning of the year. For me those blessings include, watching my daughter begin first grade, finding an additional church home at Mack Ave Community Church, and most rewarding, being selected as the new Executive Director of MACC Development.

As I transition into my new role my largest focus is becoming a student of 48214. Through my few short months in my new role, I have learned a great deal about all that our neighborhood has to offer. I thank God for the many opportunities He has blessed MACC Development with during this busy time of year. With the start of fall, we are excited to welcome a new season of MACC Sports and cheer on our youth as they embark on yet another fun-filled season of scholarship and athletics.

Our MACC Lit program has made great strides and we are happy to announce that we will be serving nearly 50 students this semester from throughout the city of Detroit. Most notably, during this programming year, is how other education and literacy-based programs have reached out to collaborate with MACC Lit and its leadership to provide a well-rounded and supportive learning environment.

To every neighbor, donor, colleague and friend thank you for your warm welcome and your continued support of MACC Development. Because of you, we can.

Yours in service,

Phaedra Wainaina

Executive Director
