It is with a bittersweet mix of disappointment and gratitude that the MACC Development Board of Directors announces Ezekiel Harris' resignation as Executive Director. Ezekiel's last day will be August 31, 2019. You can read Zeke's letter on this page by clicking the link below.
Zeke's tenure with MACC Development has been a blessing from God, both to our organization and to our neighbors. From his first day on the job, Zeke met one daunting challenge after another. His energy and enthusiasm garnered the attention of public and private partners, and his efforts to complete the $1.5 million renovation of 7900 Mack Avenue, launch The Commons café-laundromat, revitalize Pingree Park, and advance the Mack Corridor plan will leave a lasting legacy in our 48214 community. The many awards Zeke has received during his tenure do not capture the extent of his influence. We will miss Zeke's creativity and vigor, and we expect he will continue to do impactful, justice-minded work wherever his career takes him next.
In spite of Zeke's departure, we at MACC Development remain enthusiastic about the future. Since our founding in 2010, God has cultivated our fledgling organization into a well-respected, multi-faceted community development corporation cherished by the neighborhoods we seek to champion. Over the years, we have rejuvenated the Pingree Park neighborhood, boosted the reading levels of elementary-aged students, created new youth sports leagues, delivered pro bono legal services, launched a new café-laundromat small business, and renovated a long-abandoned warehouse into our mixed-use community center headquarters. And in 2019, after we complete the Mack Avenue Strong Neighborhoods Plan, we will return to our roots: affordable housing.
Over these next few months, the Board will conduct an extensive search for the next MACC Development Executive Director. Our ideal candidate is a seasoned one, capable of providing both forward-thinking leadership and a steady managerial hand. If you know of individuals who may be interested—or are yourself interested in the position—please review the job description and other items on this page and contact us with your ideas and interest.
Without your support, without the determination of leaders like Ezekiel, and without God's unmerited favor, none of what we have achieved these past eight years would have been possible. And so, even as we face another challenging year, we remain undaunted. Indeed, we eagerly anticipate the year to come, mindful of the many years of God's faithfulness to us and to our neighbors.
