Letter from the Executive Director

January 22, 2019

Dear Friends,

After much prayer and consideration, I have decided to step down as the Executive Director of MACC Development. My last day will be August 31, 2019.

Since joining MACC Development in 2016, I have gained valuable experience, meaningful relationships, and—most importantly—a deeper understanding of just how big our God really is. From my first day on the job, I was impressed with the determination of our team. We moved fast and accomplished the incredible despite working remotely for years. We pressed forward with the $1.5 million renovation of The Commons. We found new homes for MACC Lit, launched a new basketball league for MACC Sports, and partnered with the city to revitalize Pingree Park. Looking back, it was amazing to see God work through this team. The awards and media recognition we have received are testaments both to His faithfulness and the innovative leaders and advocates I have worked alongside these past three years.

Leading an organization that serves the community in which I live and work has offered me a regular reminder of the many injustices that plague not only my community, but communities throughout the nation. I am thankful for the opportunities to address these issues through MACC Development—from youth literacy to business development to affordable housing—and I look forward to pursuing new ways to address poverty in the future.

There is still much to do this year. We are excited to open the Mack Avenue Community Park next door to The Commons, complete with a brand new performance stage! We also expect to reach profitability with The Commons, develop a housing plan for implementation, and solidify MACC Development's long-term strategic plan. Thank you to everyone who has prayed, given financially, and volunteered with MACC Development. It truly means a lot to me that you would choose to invest your time, talents, and treasure with us.

As for next steps, we have put together a search committee to find the right person to step into the Executive Director role after me. Please pray that we find someone who both understands the vision and possesses the capacity to lead MACC Development to new heights.

If you are interested in becoming MACC Development’s next Executive Director – or know someone who may be interested – please visit maccdevelopment.com/careers or contact me directly to learn more about the application process. Of course, if you have any questions about this time of transition, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Grace be with you,
